Hearing Aid Evaluation and Fitting
Many patients are unsure where to find professional help with their hearing. Ensuring that you are provided with a comprehensive hearing test and are counseled correctly regarding appropriate hearing aid options is very important. The Audiology staff at the Hearing Loss Center of Austin provides hearing healthcare in a manner that provides you with the information that you need for a successful hearing aid experience for those in the greater Austin, TX area.
In many cases, hearing loss can be helped with hearing aids. Choosing the right hearing aid can be difficult. There is an enormous amount of information regarding hearing aids and the choices can be daunting. Choosing an audiologist who can guide you through this process is the first critical decision in purchasing hearing aids. Not every hearing aid is built for every type of hearing loss. The amount of hearing loss you have at certain frequencies help determine which styles of hearing aids will sound the best to you acoustically.
Of course, the first step to a successful hearing aid experience is an accurate audiological evaluation or hearing test. Only an Audiologist or Otolaryngologist can diagnose your hearing loss. Equally important is a determination regarding your specific needs and lifestyle. It is critical to convey this information to the audiologist. Finally, everyone has a budget. Your budgetary constraints should be discussed. Hearing aids are rarely covered by insurance.
The reality is that not everyone needs the most advanced hearing aid. Your individual needs and lifestyle may not warrant a Premier level hearing aid. When you discuss technology options it is important to communicate with your audiologist about your concerns and your needs. Don't focus on accessories. The most important thing is to find the technology/processing pattern that works best for you. Your hearing loss is unique to you. Finding the right match for your loss that your brain will accept is the most important step.

As the cost of healthcare has become more and more transparent to patients, why is it that hearing aid prices have not? The common misconception is that historically the bill you see is the price for the hearing aids. Unfortunately, this has not been the case in the industry. At the Hearing Loss Center of Austin you will only ever pay for what you need, not a bundled price riddled with pricing gimmicks and without explanation. This is the reason we are able to offer the latest in hearing aid technology at an affordable price.

When estimating your reimbursement by your insurance company, it's important to know what services are covered by your insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully before your visit by asking the following questions:
- -What is my coverage and benefits for hearing aids?
- -What is my deductible and has it been met?
- -Do I have a co-pay? If so, how much is it?
- -Do I have out-of-network coverage? If so, how do I submit for reimbursement?
